Joey Mauro is a writer, archivist, and editor from Canada, currently living in Brooklyn. He is a PhD student at Brown University, where he studies movement history, the performativity of struggle, and political economy. Drawing on continental philosophy, performance studies, and historical materialism, his research explores the body and political violence, the social commons and resistance practices, and subjectivity and incarceration. His writing has engaged with Black and Indigenous literatures, the aesthetics of refusal, violence, and primitive accumulation. His current work reads political acts of self-inflicted harm in relation to social movements. When he isn’t working, he likes to be with his family and friends.
